Scott has been in the area of nonprofit for many years. As a case manager with the Center for Independent Living (CIL) in Jacksonville, Florida, Scott assisted consumers with disabilities in accessing a range of support services; the Florida Tele-Communications Relay (FTRI) program for the deaf and hard of hearing was part of this. Additionally, Scott has worked with and for community service programs whose focus included, but were not limited to Civil Rights, Same-Sex Domestic Violence, Homeless LGBTQ Youth, Access to Healthcare for LGBTQ Consumers, and Hate Crime Prevention training for schools, law enforcement personnel, community groups, and faith organizations. Scott is first and foremost a community activist at heart. He served as an intern with the ACLU in Jacksonville, Florida while in school pursuing his paralegal and legal assisting degree(s).
